1. Register — tell us who you are
We take four kinds of registrations: students and emerging professionals who want a mentor, experienced professionals who want to mentor, volunteers who want to help run the operation, and organizations that want to partner with us. The form asks about your goals and background. A person reads every word of it later, so plain, honest answers are all we need.
2. Review — every application read by a person
A real person reviews every application, usually within two weeks. If your answers raise questions, we'll reach out — a short conversation beats an automated rejection every time. Mentors go further before they're accepted: identity verification, a background check, and reference conversations with people who know their work. For any mentee under 18, we confirm a parent or guardian's consent before anything moves forward. Only when all of that is done do you join the reviewed pool.
3. Match — a thoughtful pairing, never automatic
Here's what we won't do: run an algorithm overnight and email you a stranger's name. Matching starts with your goals and a mentor's strengths; our team then shortlists a few possibilities, and a person reviews each suggested pairing and approves it or sends it back. No automatic matching, ever — the introduction happens only when someone on our side would be comfortable making it face to face.
4. Mentorship — structured conversations, every interaction screened
Pairs meet on a defined schedule with a defined purpose: prepared conversation guides keep every session focused on professional development. Screening is strictest here. Every interaction is reviewed before it happens and reviewed after it happens. There is no unsupervised one-to-one contact between a mentor and a minor — ever. If either side reports that a boundary was crossed, the pairing pauses immediately while we look into it.
5. Complete — a defined end, measured against published criteria
Every mentorship ends by design, not by drift. We publish the completion criteria — what a finished mentorship looks like — so both sides know the milestones from the first conversation. When a pair completes, we record the outcome, thank the mentor, and invite the mentee to come back one day as a mentor themselves.
For families: the youth track
Parents come first here. Any mentee under 18 needs a parent or guardian's consent before they can take part, and a parent can withdraw that consent at any time. Parents of younger students — down to middle school — start the registration themselves, so there is nothing their child joined without their knowledge.
For children under 13 we go further: a verifiable parental consent process, not just a checkbox. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the US federal law that governs collecting personal information from children under 13.
Mentoring works best when it starts early, so we welcome younger students — with their parents fully involved from the first step.

registration is open, and that is all it is. Signing up today joins a reviewed pool — it does not create an account, match you with a mentor, or schedule anything.
Next
matching and mentorship operations begin only after our safeguarding procedures are written and trained, reviewers are in place, and we can keep every promise on this page. When that day comes, the reviewed pool hears first.
How we protect your information
- Personal information is stored encrypted, and is visible only to the people who need it for reviewing and matching.
- Mentors pass identity verification, a background check, and reference verification before acceptance.
- There is no unsupervised one-to-one contact between a mentor and a mentee under 18.
- Every interaction in a mentorship is reviewed before it happens and reviewed after it happens.
- You can ask for your personal information to be deleted at any time, and we will confirm once it's gone.
Before this page can be published, these two items need resolution — noted so nothing honest-sounding ships before it's real:
- Verifiable parental consent (under 13): the exact process the site will use still needs to be chosen and documented before youth registration opens.
- Completion milestones: the published criteria described under "5. Complete" still need to be drafted and published first.
