Why we exist
Talent is everywhere. Guidance is not. We're here to close that gap.
The problem we're solving
For a young person from a well-connected family, a career is a guided tour: internships through family friends, résumé advice over dinner, a phone call that opens a door. For a first-generation student or a young professional without those networks, the same journey is a maze with no map.
This isn't about intelligence or work ethic — it's about access to someone who knows the way. Studies of professional advancement consistently show that mentorship and networks shape careers as much as credentials do. We can't redistribute networks — but we can build new ones, deliberately and generously.
What we believe
Guidance is a gift that compounds
An hour of honest advice at 19 can redirect a decade. Mentors give time; mentees pay it forward. That's the engine.
Standards don't bend; doors open
We hold every mentee to high professional standards — and we open doors that background alone would keep shut.
Trust is earned slowly
Safeguarding, careful screening, parent partnership, and honest communication aren't overhead — they're the product.
The founder's story
Mano Mohanram has spent his career in technology and business, working across teams, companies, and continents. Along the way he noticed a pattern: the young professionals who thrived weren't always the most credentialed — they were the ones who had found, by luck or by family, someone willing to explain how the professional world actually works.
He also noticed who was missing from the rooms where careers are made — and how rarely that absence had anything to do with ability. The Sandipani Initiative is his answer: a deliberate, structured way to give every motivated young person the kind of guidance that too many only get by accident of birth.
"Nobody mentored me into this idea," he says. "That's exactly the problem."
